Atlantis

The Isley Brothers - Voyage To Atlantis

Origin of the Legend

The tale of Atlantis comes from the Greek philosopher Plato, who lived in the 300s B . C . In two of his works, the Timaeus and the Critias, he relates that the famous Athenian lawgiver Solon had heard the story of Atlantis when he visited Egypt. In the very distant past, a great island as large as North Africa and the Near East combined existed in the Atlantic Ocean. The island belonged to Poseidon (Neptune) *, who fell in love with a young woman of the island named Cleito and married her. Poseidon built a city on the island, and on a mountain in the center of the city, he built a palace for Cleito. The couple had ten children, and in time Poseidon divided the island among them, giving each a section to rule....

Nationalist Uses of the Atlantis Myth in a Nordic Framework

In a theoretical arena where it is difficult to prove any hypothesis beyond all doubt, interpreting the archaeological record of the distant past can be a highly speculative and, in some circumstances, dangerous activity. The malleability of myth and the lack of written records make it especially vulnerable to appropriation by a nationalist agenda, particularly in the search for superior origins. The perception of lacking a past, as exemplified by German National Socialists in the Third Reich, makes an exalted origin story all the more coveted. What grander origin story than to claim descent from the lost kingdom of Atlantis, described so impressively by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato? The Atlantis myth has been used in various nationalistic contexts, but perhaps never more forcefully and with such widespread ramifications than in seventeenth century Sweden and, in particular, Nazi Germany. The use of the Nordic interpretation of Atlantis as a nationalist tool in Sweden provided the background for its much more lethal use in the Third Reich. The theories of Olof Rudbeck, the Swedish engineer of the “Atlantis in the North” interpretation of Plato’s account, influenced the ideas of prominent German figures in the Third Reich, such as Schafer, Kiss, Wirth, Huth, and most importantly Himmler – the mastermind of the intellectual basis for German racial superiority...

aka What the FUCK!!! and more lizard folk to you my friend

Did Atlantis really exist? If so, where?

PLATO'S HUMOR: ATLANTIS

A good indication of a position being without merit is the dearth of experts who assume that position. Consider the Atlantis myth. Its only sources are two dialogues by Plato (below).[ii], and there is no archaelolgical support, not for the date given by Plato, 9,300 years prior. (Some suggest that the destruction of Theta in the 15th century BC gave rise to the legend).

In the Skeptic, Vol. 3, 2002, is a two page article on point. A television documentary was being done on Atlantis. The producer approached Ken Feder, of Central Connecticut State, for they wanted to interview a reputable, university anthropologist who was of the opinion that there is some sort of historical and cultural connection between Atlantis and the native civilizations of the ancient New World (Ken Feder, p. 11). But there werent any. Simply put, there is no evidence of a great civilization 11,600 years ago, neither in the New World or the Old World.

Atlantis in Comics

Marvel Comics
Marvel's version of Atlantis first appeared in Marvel Comics vol 1 #1 in 1940.

In the Marvel universe, Atlantis is a the city under the sea ruled by Namor, the Sub-Mariner.

It was originally a small continent with human settlements but this all changed 21,000 years ago during an event known as the Great Cataclysm and it was swallowed by the depths of the sea. This event was caused by King Kamuu when he tried to defend it from the Deviants of Lemuria by opening the city's magma pits. Several settlements survived including Atlantis and Netheria, as they had built a glass dome to shield each before this catastrophe took place...

The City of Atlantis, as it is today!

The epic adventure of Atlantis Motherland proclaims that the magnificent temples, palaces and fountains of Atlantis once stood on Mithridat Hill in southern Ukraine, on the northern shore of the Black Sea. According to Flying Eagle and Whispering Wind, authors of the Atlantis Motherland book, it was from this lookout point, that the Kings of Atlantis ruled their vast empire. These visionary atlantologists present evidence suggesting that long ages before the founding of ancient Egypt (Kemet) and Sumer, the first foundation stones of civilization were hewn on Mithridat Hill. From this one spot on Earth, almost forty thousand years ago, civilization began spreading around the entire world.

Today, Mithridat Hill, also called Mount Mithridat, stands as a landmark that can be seen from everywhere in the industrial port-city of Kerch, Crimea, Ukraine. The hilltop provides a commanding view of the surrounding fertile plains, sparkling seas and majestic mountains. The Atlantis Motherland project presents substantial evidence that Mount Mithridat is the location of the ancient city of Atlantis. The physical features of Mithridat Hill display amazing similarities to the features of the hill where Atlantis was founded, as described in the classic Greek writing’s called The Dialogues of Plato...
