Frank Lloyd Wright is America's best known architect. Born in 1867, he lived to be 91, and enjoyed a career that lasted nearly as long as his lifetime.

Prime examples of his work include the Prairie-style houses, the S.C. Johnson Wax Building, Fallingwater and the Guggenheim Museum.

Hollyhock House is Wright's first Los Angeles project. Built between 1919 and 1921, it represents his earliest efforts to develop a regionally appropriate style of architecture for Southern California. Wright himself referred to it as California Romanza, using a musical term meaning "freedom to make one's own form"...

Imperial Hotel, Tokyo

Tokyo's Imperial Hotel was the best-known of Frank Lloyd Wright's buildings in Japan. The original Imperial Hotel in Tokyo was built in 1890. To replace the original wooden structure, the owners commissioned a design by Wright, which was completed in 1923. Time took its toll, and in 1968, the facade and pool were moved to The Museum Meiji Mura, a collection of buildings (mostly from the Meiji Era) in Inuyama, near Nagoya, while the rest of the structure was demolished to make way for a new hotel on the site...

I've always loved Oscar de la Renta for his gorgeous gowns and dresses and his Spring/Summer 2008 collection certainly does not disappoint. Here is an example of a lovely dress that appears to have an Aztec/Mayan influence, particularly with the collar (a couple of years ago, I had the opportunity to visit the gigantic National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City)...
