PROJECT SUMMARY

Photographed over the last 5 years exclusively in Guatemala, and drawing cast and crew from 3 continents, The Myth of Time relates the unwritten chapter of the Maya Popol Vuh.
The principle cast consists of top theatrical talent from Guatemala and El Salvador, while branching to New York and London for further roles.

With over 5,000 participants in Guatemala, this is the first major film photographed in and based on the unique culture of the country’s indigenous population, demonstrating their language and beliefs.

Likewise, the project has philanthropic aspirations of providing housing and funds for victims of Hurricane Stan in 2005, many of whom remain homeless since the disaster.

“The Myth of Time” debuts a new technique of cinema, referred to as Caleidismo (Kaleidism): the combination of written and spoken poetry with audio-visual symbolism, breaking the barriers of language and culture.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

“The Myth of Time” is inspired by revolution guided by the spirit of the Black Jaguar.
The original title of the film. Numaj Ruq’iij Q’aq Bajlam. translates to Now Arrives the Time of the Black Jaguar, referring to his transmigration from the jungle to the volcano, from earth to fire. From captivity as matter to freedom as energy.
Traveling through Guatemala, the visions were recorded as photograph and poetry. The myth was written.

Our mission is to deliver this message of revolution from the Maya dynasty, and to build homes to preserve its progeny and heritage.
